How has your career unfolded and how did participating in 21CL help prepare you for your next steps going to college, taking on a new leadership role in community/college and after?

Participating in 21CL played a major role in preparing me for my career. It helped me become a more confident and outspoken leader while pushing me outside my comfort zone. Because of 21CL, I developed the drive to take on challenges and grow from them, which has shaped both my academic and leadership journey. I am graduating from the University of West Georgia in May with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Community Health & Wellness and I will be continuing my education there doing an MBA with a concentration in IoT Networking and Cybersecurity.

What’s your memorable or ‘aha’ moment during your time at 21CL? (Particular program, meeting a professional and diverse peer, speaking in public for the first time, etc.)

My most memorable 21CL moments are being surrounded by people who genuinely pushed me to be better and showed me how to grow—not just in my future career, but also in life. Those experiences and connections helped shape my mindset and motivated me to continuously improve.

Did 21CL assist you in developing a leadership style that makes you an effective leader? If so, how?

21st Century Leaders helped me develop a strong transformational leadership style that inspires me to continuously push for positive change and growth in both myself and others. Through the program, I learned the importance of leading by example, staying adaptable, and encouraging those around me to reach their full potential. It also strengthened my confidence in taking initiative, communicating effectively, and creating a positive impact within a team or organization.

Why do you believe programs like 21CL are important? And what advice would you give to a current or future student?

Programs like 21CL are important because they give students real-world exposure, build confidence, and develop leadership skills that aren’t always taught in the classroom. They create opportunities to network, explore different career paths, and learn how to communicate and work effectively with others. My advice to current or future students is to take full advantage of every opportunity the program offers. Step outside of your comfort zone, ask questions, and build meaningful connections. The more effort you put into the experience, the more it will shape your growth and prepare you for your future.
